Summary
The Dualtron 3 is a fast, fun scooter for on-road use. It delivers more power and excitement than a Dualtron Spider but not quite as much as the Ultra or Thunder.
We love the solid build quality and stock 10.0-inch by 3-inch 4-ply tires. This scooter, like all Dualtrons, suffers from the “Dualtron wobble. “

Acceleration
With dual motors and 1600-watts of continuous power on tap (peak up 3600 W), this is one fast scooter. It’s not quite as fast as the Thunder, but comparable to the Zero 10X or Kaabo Mantis.
In particular, dual-motor mode is extremely fast. If you don’t hang on tightly to the handlebars, you will be left behind as the scooter runs off without you.
Hill Climbing
The Dualtron 3 flew up the steepest of hills — both on and off-road. The only scooters we’ve reviewed that can legitimately challenge the 3 on an uphill speed test are the Thunder, Wolf Warrior, and Zero 10X.
Top Speed
During our testing, we hit just under 40 mph on the Dualtron 3.
Range
The Dualtron 3 packs a 1658 watt hour lithium-ion battery made of Panasonic-branded cells. We didn’t do a full range test on the, but the Dualtron 3 has a manufacturer-claimed 50-mile range. We will update once we do a full range test but would expect to realistically get ~35 miles.
Braking
The Dualtron 3 has semi-hydraulic brakes with ventilated 140 mm discs. Semi-hydraulic brakes are an interesting hybrid of fully mechanical and fully hydraulic disc brakes. The calipers themselves have a hydraulic cylinder that is controlled by mechanical cable.
Braking on this scooter is strong and controlled. It’s not quite as good as a fully hydraulic system, which gives superbly consistent braking “feel.” However, it is much smoother, and your braking efforts are more amplified compared to a fully mechanical system.

Ride quality
The Dualtron III has the standard Dualtron rubber suspension that we’ve come to know and love.
This type of suspension is not as high performing as proper coil-over-air setup, but it does the job and has some big benefits:
- Dead simple = durable = bombproof
- Adjustable
- Lightweight
We did a significant amount of off-roading of this scooter to push the suspension to its limits. The stock suspension is medium stiff.

Portability
The Dualtron III has folding handlebars and stem, with a built-in locking mechanism for carrying. Those things said, the scooter comes in at a hulking 79 lbs and, for most, would not be easy to carry up stairs or throw into the back of a car. These mechanisms are mostly designed for reducing the size of the scooter for storage or transportation.
Cockpit
The Dualtron III cockpit is very similar to other Dualtron models.
On the left side of the cockpit are two adjustments for speed — which we used a lot during riding. First is the eco/turbo (yellow button). This regulates the max speed. Eco mode limits you to about 15 mph, and turbo mode unlocks the scooter for a top speed of ~40 mph. The red button is for single/dual motors. You can use these buttons in any of the four combinations depending on your environment.
On the right side of the handlebars, you will find the standard Minimotors EY3 LCD trigger throttle, which shows speed, distance, and battery. It also has an index-finger-controlled throttle and buttons for adjusting scooter settings.
We aren’t huge fans of the trigger throttle. If your finger is on the throttle, it’s harder to cover the brakes as well. This makes quick, emergency, dual-wheel braking more difficult. Also, the weird hand position causes your hands to cramp after some time.
Lights
Lights are mounted low but are actually quite bright. The Dualtron 3 has the obligatory Dualtron stem “swag” lighting (love it or hate it).
The lighting is pretty cool, totally adjustable with remote, and really helps to stay safe at night. It also will attract attention if you want it.
The Dualtron 3 also comes with Fast and Furious blue “ground effects” style lighting, making it a definite head-turner.

Tires
The Dualtron 3 comes with 4-ply, 10.0-inch by 3-inch pneumatic tubeless tires. These things are basically mini motorcycle tires. They provide optimal on-road traction — their thick walls are very puncture-resistant. You can dump some slime in them for added puncture resistance.
Off-road, the Dualtron 3’s tires perform modestly. However, expect to frequently lose traction on one or both wheels under heavy acceleration or deceleration. For off-road performance, consider swapping the stock tire for knobby off-road ones.
Personally, we think the Dualtron 3’s smooth tires are most suited for off-road electric scooter burnouts.
Deck
The Dualtron 3 has a spacious deck that has two strips of grip tape running down its length. The deck is as large as you’ll need and has the Dualtron logo emblazoned on it.
Warranty / Post-Purchase Support
The Dualtron 3 typically has a 12-month warranty, but duration and terms depend on your local dealer.
Build quality
The Dualtron 3, like all MiniMotors scooters, has superb quality in nearly every aspect. Thick construction, quality motors, and details like strain-relieved cabling ensure this scooter is built to last.
Dualtron 3 Stem Wobble
However, one issue we’ve observed in all Dualtrons is a bit of slop in the steering. The Dualtron 3 seems to have the worst case of this compared to other Dualtrons.
This steering wobble caused by play in the folding mechanism that is amplified along the huge lever arm of the neck. The folding mechanism is locked with only a single, narrow latch (it should be possible to upgrade with a beefier or secondary latch).
When braking, it creates a cadence where it looks like you’re doing a slow, sexy dance. When accelerating or going at a constant speed, it is less noticeable, but when braking, it is annoying, to say the least. It’s not so much a quality issue, as it is a design one — it is just bad design in an otherwise well-designed machine.
Dualtron 3: Review Conclusions
The Dualtron 3, in the scheme of Dualtron scooters, comes as a road-oriented model falling between the Dualtron Thunder and Dualtron Spider in terms of performance.
The Dualtron 3 is a great scooter if you’re looking for something well-built, fast, with long-range, but not particularly portable.
If an electric scooter is your primary form of transportation, then this will be a great choice. The speed will allow you to nimbly travel around a city all day or for multiple days in a row with no recharge, owing to the long-range. The heavy construction and 10.0-inch, 4-ply pneumatic tires will help keep maintenance to a minimum.
The Dualtron 3 also makes an excellent scooter for pure joy riding — though you might as well jump to the Dualtron Thunder for maximum thrills.
If the price point of a Dualtron 3 is too much, definitely take a look at the Zero 10X or jump straight to the comparison: Dualtron 3 vs. Zero 10X. The Zero 10X is actually a slightly faster scooter with higher weight capacity and lower price. Zero, the manufacturer, is also a well-known quality one. The Dualtron 3 has better brakes and tires and a bit larger battery capacity.
