12 Best Longest Range Electric Scooters

What are the best, longest range electric scooters on the market today? Our in-depth review takes a look at the top 12 models and reveals which ones are worth your money.

Everyone wants something different from their electric scooter. Some want power, others want speed, with others favoring portability and affordability. Regardless of what you need your scooter to do for you, there is something out there for everyone. However, our focus today is electric scooters that deliver on long range.

There are certain electric scooters that are just made to go the distance. More often than not, these will not be the same electric scooters that you can easily tuck under your seat on a train, or those that you can bicep curl. Electric scooters that deliver on mileage are usually fitted with larger batteries to ensure that the electric scooter gets enough juice to go the distance it claims to.

At ESG, we took 85 fully charged e scooters and rode them on our range test loop until they just stopped going, so we could determine which ones were the world’s best long-range electric scooters. Our list comprises everything from your basic entry lever, affordable long distance commuter, to powerful, beastly machines that you could even take on safari if Mufasa wasn’t waiting around the corner.

Let’s jump right into it.

How We Range Test our E Scooters

Range is usually dependent on quite a number of factors, e.g, battery size, riding mode, rider weight, weather conditions, terrain, and riding style among other features unique to the individual e-scooter. To ensure that the results were standard across all our tested e-scooters, we rode them all under the same conditions.

Here is the set of factors we exposed each electric scooter to:

  • All electric scooters were ridden in real world conditions as a real rider would.
  • We rode all the electric scooters around the same 2 mile test loop
  • Each electric scooter was fully charged at the beginning of travel, and the test ended when the battery was completely drained
  • All the electric scooters were ridden in top performance mode, hitting peak speeds of up to 35 mph between stop signs
  • Our test was conducted with the highest consideration for rider and public safety
  • The range test course included 300 feet of elevation change per lap to fully mimic real world conditions
  • The machines were also ridden by the same rider to eliminate weight-related range discrepancies

Most electric scooters manufacturers test their long range scooters on flat ground, riding at a conservative 15 mph and without any stop and go, which really doesn’t translate to what riders will experience in the real world. Therefore, the stringency of our riding conditions accounts for the inconsistency between ESG’s data against the manufacturer’s claimed “maximum” mileage on a single charge.

Apollo Air Pro: Best Long Range Electric Scooter for New Riders

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 18.6 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 17.7 miles

The Apollo Air Pro is everything you’ve heard about Apollo electric scooters in an entry level package. The Air Pro is an upgrade from the original Apollo Air, and both retail under $1,000, with the Pro being more expensive and delivering better value for money in terms of power performance. Here’s a look at what makes the Air Pro one of the best long range scooters.

The Air Pro is rigged with a 374 wh lithium ion battery pack that is responsible for the electric scooter’s decent range. We took the Air Pro electric scooter out on the range test with a 163 lbs rider, in highest performance and achieved an ESG certified 17.7 miles range on a single charge. The cheaper Apollo Air only achieved 14 miles, due to its lower-rated 281 wh battery power. Both scooters charge to full battery capacity in 5 to 7 hours.

During the range test, our rider was able to maintain speed on flat ground to the very last mile. This is incredible at its price point, since a lot of other long range electric scooters cannot keep riding at maximum speed at the end of battery life, and  usually start to slow down. And with enough range for a 15.0 mile round trip, plus pleasant handling, the Pro makes for a great casual commuter.

Besides range, you will also get striking aesthetics from the Air Pro, unlike other midrange electric scooters. The ride and build quality is excellent, just like the base Apollo Air, which makes the Pro a worthy competitor against popular entry level commuters like the Segway Ninebot Max that deliver a stiff but boring, safe and solid performance.

You need a comfortable electric scooter if you’re going to milk the entire mileage, which the Apollo Air Pro achieves thanks to the 10 inch x 2 inch front and rear pneumatic tires. The progressive profile tires provide a stable ride feel with a blunt tread. The contact patch (area of the tire that makes contact with the road) is wider on the tires of the base Air and any other entry-level electric scooters, resulting in a steady, balanced ride.

The electric scooter also delivers on exceptional handling, thanks to the front fork spring suspension. The front fork resembles that of a mountain bike, and does a surprisingly good job of keeping the front wheel in firm contact with the road considering it doesn’t have hydraulic damping. The dual spring front suspension works well and is great at this price point, but can clack slightly when topping out.

The Air Pro delivers an incredibly smooth and quiet ride without stem wobble and odd squeaks. Riders weighing up to 220 lbs can take advantage of the 18.8 mph tested maximum speed to catch some wind on their mini excursions without range anxiety. But Apollo also gives you a great app with a navigation feature with a remaining range counter to let you know how far you can go with the battery’s state of charge. For spirited urban riding on a full charge, you can expect a full hour of fun before you have to start worrying about juicing up the electric scooter.

Fluid FreeRide Horizon: Best Long Range Value

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 30.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 26.0 miles

The Fluid FreeRide Horizon is your complete upgrade from entry-level electric scooters. It is a well-rounded rugged electric scooter that punches above its weight class. The Horizon may be in the sub- $1,000 category but delivers the performance of electric scooters that cost much more than that. Here’s a rundown of why you can get no better value if you’re looking for a reliable electric scooter for your long-range commuting.

The Fluid FreeRide Horizon comes with a battery capacity of 624 wh that delivers an ESG tested range of 26.0 miles, against a manufacturer-cited 30.0 miles. The 48v battery charges to capacity in a good 5-7 hours. Meanwhile, the range per dollar is unmatched, and range per pound only comes second to the more expensive Inmotion L9, which clocked a 31 mile range. Regardless, thanks to its small folded dimensions and relatively lightweight, the Horizon is one of the more portable long-range electric scooters, and it doesn’t compromise on ride quality on your long journeys.

The smooth ride on the Fluid FreeRide Horizon is facilitated by the 9 inch x 2 inch front pneumatic inner tube tire, plus its rear solid counterpart that are heavily complemented by the front and rear suspension. The front spring suspension and pneumatic tire help to soften the impact from rough terrain, while reducing the amount of force needed to roll over obstacles that might otherwise result in a nasty fall. On the other hand, the rear spring suspension is less critical for rolling over obstacles and mostly contributes to overall ride quality, ensuring you don’t get a brain massage when riding on really rough roads.

The weight balance on the electric scooter is more centered towards the rear where the motor and drum brake are located. At 24.0 mph maximum speed, this is one of the fastest electric scooters in its price class. However, the braking could be better. We also have a few minor gripes regarding the charging port placement, throttle lag, and loosening handlebar threads. But the Horizon still remains one of the best electric scooters for long range riding, good hill climbing, great  top speed, and greater compactness at an affordable price.

Segway Ninebot Max: Best Long Range Electric Scooter for Reliability

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 40.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 28.1 miles

The Segway Ninebot Max has a cult-like following and with good reason. When it comes to reliability, not many electric scooters are built like the Max–and that’s even as a sharing electric scooter. It may not be the fastest–in fact it’s the slowest on our list, but when it comes to distance, the Ninebot is a real work of wonder. The entry level category was initially a race to find the Xiaomi Mi electric scooter replacement, till Segway released the 350 W Ninebot Max and it’s been the electric scooter to beat for price against reliability. Let’s break it down and see why the Ninebot Max wins the title for best reliability in the long range category.

The Max comes with a 36v, 551 wh battery that is large enough to drive this Ninebot electric scooter to a manufacturer-stated range of 40.0 miles. Taking the max out on our range test course and riding in peak performance gave us 28 miles of range, which is exceptional for its class, given its weight and price. It even outdoes the more expensive Segway Ninebot MAx G30LP that has a manufacturer-cited range of 25.0 miles, against 14 miles of ESG tested range. Both electric scooters charge from zero to full in 6 hours.

The Ninebot Max has one of the sturdiest constructions of the electric scooters we have, and it only makes sense because of its rental scooter purpose. It also comes with an IPX5 rating, making it a year-round type of electric scooter. In addition, the 350 w motor power is good at pushing heavier riders up inclines, with a rider weight capacity of up to 220 lbs. The speed on the Max is probably its most defeating aspect. It is slower than its counterparts and only hits top speeds of 17.8 mph, and the G30 LP is only slightly faster at 18.0 mph.

Ride quality is good, but it’s not great. The electric scooter rolls on 10 inch x 3 inch pre slimed, pneumatic tires, which the Ninebot Max popularized due to their resistance to pinch flats. The tires also provide a good amount of shock absorption. However, the lack of a suspension system makes the ride a bit jarring especially over rough terrain. The Ninebot’s build however makes up for this by giving a sizable standing platform measuring 19 inches x  6 inches, with a deck to handlebar height of 40 inches, against the Max G30LP’s 17 inches x 6 inches, with handlebars that sit at 37 inches tall.

The Max is so practical that people tend to keep them around as a second scooter long after upgrading to something faster. It is a consistent, stalwart electric scooter worth its weight in gold (or $USD).

Uscooters GT SE: Best Combination of Range and Portability on an Electric Scooter

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 27.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 15.2 miles

Uscooters has a history in releasing electric scooters with an incredible speed to weight ratio. The scooters are known for speed and ultra-portability, but the GT SE tops that list with amazing range for its class. Here is what you need to know about this ultraportable, high speed, long range electric scooter.

The GT SE comes with a reliable 48v 10.5 ah 504 Wh Samsung battery that powers the electric scooter through 15.2 miles of tested range. This is the shortest range on our list, but ultraportable scooters generally tend to keep their weight low, and part of that is by using a smaller battery. The GT SE electric scooter does better on range than other electric scooters in the Uscooters models, including its faster successor, the GT Sport, that only goes 14 miles.

Uscooters are experts in ultra-lightweight, high utility electric scooters. The GT SE is the ‘Smart Edition,’ and an upgrade to the Booster Sport with Bluetooth® wireless technology, which allows the GT SE to connect to the smartphone app. It weighs 30 lbs, with folded dimensions of 45 inches x 6 inches x 13 inches (LxWxH), which is pretty amazing with a battery that size.

Unfortunately, portability often comes at the slight expense of comfort. The GT SE comes with a tiny deck that measures 20 inch x 5 inch, and a handlebar height of 36 inches to ensure that the electric scooter occupies the smallest folded footprint. Luckily UScooters didn’t skimp on the suspension, especially given that the scooter comes with a front and rear 8 inch solid tires, which don’t provide the best ride quality. The front and rear spring suspension help smoothen out the road imperfections a little for an okay ride experience.

The GT SE also gives you a decent tested max speed of 23 mph. And, the 700 w motor power is good for hill climbing and acceleration. The GT SE is the top choice for a tactical, fast, and long range portable electric scooter.

EMOVE Cruiser: Best Long Range Commuter E scooter

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 62.0 miles

ESG Tested MaxRange: 47.0 miles

The 2021 EMOVE Cruiser delivers unmatched build quality, and is one of the most customizable long range electric scooters we have thanks to the number of mods issued by the manufacturer. But you probably know the Cruiser from its surprisingly long range, so here are the numbers.

The EMOVE Cruiser electric scooter comes equipped with a 1560 wh battery. The battery carries energy dense 21700 LG cells that are more energy efficient than generic brand cells, and gurantee longer battery life. This gives the electric scooter a tested range of 47.0 miles, against a manufacturer stated 62.0 miles. The range per dollar and range per pound is unmatched in our entire database.

This incredible range comes sixth behind resident big dogs Dualtron Thunder II, Kaabo Wolf King GT Pro, and the three NAMI iterations of our tested long range electric scooters. And the best part about the Cruiser’s range is that the battery is removable, and charges in just 9-12 hours. So, with a spare battery pack, you can easily double your range and surpass even the Dualtron Thunder II(Longest range scooter we have tested).

The Cruiser gives riders a max speed of 31.0 mph to take full advantage of the extreme mileage. What’s more, the ride is comfortable and reliable thanks to the 10 inch flat-resistant, tubeless tires, the dual suspension, the large 23 inch x 7 inch deck with sandpaper-like grip tape, and a very solid frame that gives you the confidence to keep going. And if you like, add a seat from the set of available mods to take further control of your ride.

The EMOVE Cruiser is the commuter’s dream. If you’re not yet convinced, the Cruiser is IPX6 rated, and has a new 1000W motor that crushes all hills on its tracks. The electric scooter is also equipped with dual semi hydraulic brakes that stop the e scooter on a dime. It is further equipped with turn signals, a headlight and a dedicated brake and rear lights for uncompromised night riding. And at 59 lbs, this electric scooter is relatively portable, which is more than you can say for elctric scooters around this range-point.

The icing on the cake is that you get all that value for a price under $1,500, and that’s really hard to beat.

EMOVE Roadrunner: The Best Long Range Seated Electric Scooter

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 50.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 33.0 miles

Voro Motor’s EMOVE Roadrunner electric scooter is not just reliable, but might be one of the most convenient electric scooters you’ll get. It is also one of the easiest e scooters to ride, especially for anyone that’s ever ridden a bicycle and by far the most addicting to ride. The EMOVE Roadrunner is unending in the number of ways  it delivers as a sustainable transport solution, and here’s how.

The Roadrunner has an ESG tested Maximum Range of 33.0 miles, against the manufacturer stated 50.0 miles. Our tests, of course, are performed in top performance mode, meaning you can increase the range by riding in normal conditions. But that’s not the only way to increase mileage. The 48V, 1253 Wh Dynavolt is also removable, and at 15 lbs it is easy to carry around and extend your range on longer excursions. The battery also takes 12 hours to charge, so you might want to get that extra one to ensure that you’re always ready to go.

The next most important thing is the e scooter’s memory foam seat, which again is one of the best, but could be thicker. It helps with ride comfort, and especially when you’re planning on extending your trip. Ride comfort is also facilitated by the 15 inch pneumatic tires, and the adjustable front fork spring suspension that give a good range of travel. The electric scooter’s build gives you great control even when riding at the max speed of 35.5 mph.

The handlebars can tilt to your most comfortable position. The foot pegs are also more ergonomically designed than those on e-bikes. The Roadrunner can accommodate a 330 lbs weight load capacity. Unfortunately it’s not IP rated despite it being advertised as an all weather electric scooter. But for your night riding, it comes with a nice headlight, tail/ rear brake light ,deck lights and integrated turn signals to ensure you go the whole length of journey safely.

The Roadrunner is also one of the safest e scooters to leave outside. You can lock it at multiple points and remove the battery to charge inside.

Apollo Phantom V2: Best Long Range Scooter for Sport Riding

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 40.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 31.4 miles

Apollo has gone out on a row to improve all their existing best sellers, and all our favorite electric scooters have 2022 versions coming out this year, and next year. There’s one e scooter that stands out above the fold, and that’s the Apollo Phantom. We call the Phantom ‘the most future-proof electric scooter’ as Apollo has enabled riders to upgrade the scooter all the way from the first generation–the V1 to the third generation, the V3. Let’s find out what makes the Phantom a great electric scooter, especially for Sport Riding.

The Phantom V2 is an incredible e scooter from Apollo, and one of the first featuring Apollo’s proprietary parts. The V2 comes with a 52 V 1216 Wh Dynavolt battery that delivers 31.4 miles of range against a manufacturer-cited 40.0 miles. The V2 travels further than the V1, which only goes as far as 28 miles, and even goes further than the faster Ludicrous 60V that goes 29 miles. Before beginning your journey, check on the Apollo app to get a calculation of the remaining range based on your battery’s charge.

The Phantom is the best long range electric scooter for sport riding. The electric scooter’s 1200W dual motors are powerful enough to conquer all manner of terrain, including city hills. It gets better with the quad spring suspension that gives the e scooter its amazing cornering and the stiff stem that ensures that the e scooter remains stable at speed. The suspension also complements the 5 inch clearance, allowing you to go over bumps, hop off curbs and roll over obstacles seamlessly. And with a ESG tested 40 mph top speed, there’s (almost) no catching the V2 in a race.

The fat, one of a kind 10 inch x 4 inch tires are the best on a production electric scooter. The large 20 inch x 7 inch deck sits atop, giving plenty of room for a comfortable stance for most riders. The embedded kick plate also gives extra room and a good angle for your foot when braking hard. You can also engage cruise control to have an even more comfortable ride on this long range scooter. But nothing beats the multiple upgradeable parts and plus and play cabling that allows riders to take advantage of and upgrade the V2 to the improved V3 version of Apollo’s iconic Phantom.

Wolf Warrior X: Best Grand Tourer Electric Scooter

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 60.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 32.0 miles

Kaabo has set such high e scooter standards that you’re guaranteed to have at least one on any ranking list. The Wolf Warrior X is our choice for a grand tourer–a combination of performance and luxury. The base Warrior X requires minimal effort to ride, but delivers top speed and excellent range. Though often compared to the more expensive Pro model, we’re quite sure that most people will go for the base X as it delivers the best value for money, and here’s why.

We start off with the 60 V 1260 Wh that delivers a range of 32.0 miles. The manufacturer claims a range of 60.0 miles by both the Wolf Warrior X and the Pro version, but the Pro is the one that comes closer, thanks to the 60 V 1680 wh LG battery at 40.9 miles. This is the only category where the Pro beats the X, which will cost you $600 more.

Other than that, the Wolf warrior X dual motor scooter really owns the road. The ride feels like a smaller, more portable version of the offroad beast; the Wolf Warrior 11. You get a top speed of 44.1 mph to facilitate your excursions, riding on one of the best set of 10 inch x 3 inch pneumatics, and the comfort of front hydraulic and rear shock absorbers. Stability can be credited to what has become a Kaabo staple for some of their bigger rides–the oil-damped, dual-stem front end.

The ride is incredibly smooth thanks to the sinewave motor controllers which are also responsible for a really good ride experience. The bulletproof build quality also allows experienced riders to take the Warrior X out and push the electric scooters’ limits, while riding on a 21 inch x 8 inch platform with a 5 inch clearance–perfect for both on and off road conditions. And surprisingly, the Warrior X gave us not only a higher top speed, but also quicker acceleration and better hill climbing.

Wolf Warrior 11: Best Electric Scooter for Offroad

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 70.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 30.2 miles

If you want an electric scooter that can go far on your off-road excursions, then the Wolf Warrior 11 is the e scooter for you. It’s no Wolf King GT; but you’ll save a tonne by opting for this electric scooter that does just as well on grassy, rocky and hilly terrain, but at a fraction of the cost. It’s been the best loved off-road electric scooter since its release–the original beast electric scooter, and the e scooter that Reddit users called the “Baddest electric scooter on the planet.” Here are the reasons why any serious offroader wanting to go far should get the Wolf Warrior 11.

The Warrior 11 is fitted with a 60V, 2100 Wh battery Samsung battery that powers the sooter through 30.2 miles of tested range. Kaabo’s stated range is 70 miles. The battery takes anywhere between 6 to 17 hours to fully charge, which is okay for the range you get. You’ll probably get more range riding conservatively, but that’s not what the e scooter was made for.

The Warrior 11 dual motors with a peak power output of 5400 W power the scooter to a max speed of 45 mph. You can really push the limits on this Kaabo all the way to top speed. The stable dual stem, the 11 inch x 4 inch pneumatic tires, the 20 inch x 9 inch riding platform, the 6 inch clearance, and the front hydraulic suspension + rear spring suspension all facilitate a smooth ride, improved handling and ensure that you feel safe cutting across rocky mountains. Note that you get a choice between city and knobby tires, which when used appropriately ensure that your ride is as smooth as it needs to be.

All the features on this Warrior come at a fraction of the cost that other extreme performers do, making this a real bargain for anyone on the market for a rugged, beastly e scooter.

Wolf King GT: Fastest Long Range Electric Scooter

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 74.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 55.0 miles

The Wolf King GT is the actual king of the electric scooter market. There’s nothing this e scooter doesn’t do. From speed, to range, to safety, ride comfort and that stellar display, the King GT does it all. It is our top choice for fastest long range electric scooter, and here’s why:

The Wolf King GT travels an incredible 55.0 miles on a single charge, which we tested in full performance mode. The only electric scooter that goes further is the Dualtron Thunder II, but the King GT wins because the ride quality is so much better. The range is facilitated by an enormous 72 V 2520 wh battery that charges in 7 hours.

The King GT’s has sine wave controllers that give it one of the smoothest and fastest accelerations, going from 0 to 15 mph in just 1.8 seconds. You can then hit the throttle as hard as you feel is safe to reach a neck-breaking max speed of 61.0 mph. With such high speed, of course, we’re glad that the King GT’s dual hydraulic brakes work as well as they do, stopping from 15 mph to 0 in just 10.0 ft.

For such a fast (and long) ride, comfort is also of utmost importance. The GT features 11 inch flat proof tires pneumatics that we tested and are happy to report are both comfortable and will not give you puncture anxiety. The ride is smoothed out further by the front and rear suspension. The rider also gets to enjoy the long and wide 20 inch x9 inch platform that offers plenty of space to alternate your riding style for maximum comfort.

The King GT is also one of the best long range electric scooters for heavy riders wanting to go far thanks to its strong build, the 266 lb rider weight capacity, the tall 37 inch handlebars, the stability of the dual stem and the excellent dual suspension setup. It is also great for all-weather riding as the King GT comes with an IPX5 waterproof rating. And you can also ride all day and night since Kaabo has the best lighting in the electric scooter industry.

We recently discovered a new electric scooter brand that surprised us by not following the fold, and instead releasing a one-of-a-kind commuter electric scooter. The ANYHILL UM-2 is going to be quite the competition for your usual commuters, and here’s why.

The UM-2 comes with a swappable battery, which means that you can double the 17.0 miles of tested range we got riding the electric scooter in top performance. This battery is not just swappable, it is also the lightest one we’ve seen in the electric scooter world, and it also comes with an ultra-high water resistance rating, preventing it from spill accidents (which are far too possible when charging it on your desk).

The UM-2’s battery is rated at 36v, 360 wh and charges in 5 hours. Again, it is uniquely the only sub-$1,000 electric scooter that comes with energy efficient LG 21700 battery cells, which means your battery and its spares will serve you for a very long time.

The electric scooter is thrilling to ride and has one of the best stability at its price point. You feel confident hitting full throttle and accessing that 17.9 mph top speed, without feeling like the electric scooter will fall apart under your weight. The payload is also high at 300 lbs, making the electric scooter suitable for most adult riders.

The e scooter lacks suspension, but the ride is relatively smooth thanks to the 10 inchx 3 inch tubeless pneumatic tires that absorb road shocks and are less susceptible to pinch flats. The riding platform is also relatively okay at 19 inches x 7 inches, with a handlebar height of 38 inches. Most adults will get a kick from riding this e scooter, and beginner riders will also enjoy the fact that it is not overpowered.

TurboAnt X7 Max Best Cheap Swappable Battery(Under $600)

Manufacturer Stated Maximum Range: 32.0 miles

ESG Tested Max Range: 18.0 miles

TurboAnt remains a classic in the removable battery scooter sphere, thanks to its affordability. Even with the new iteration–the Turbonant X7 Max, this still holds true. You can get either the  X7 Pro or the X7 Max at under $550. But here’s why you need a long-ranged portable electric vehicle like the Max.

The X7 Max has a manufacturer stated range of 32.0 miles, but we tested it in top performance mode and got 18.0 miles. This is more that you get on the predecessor, the X7 Pro, which only went as far as 15.3 miles against a manufacturer-cited 30.0 miles. Both electric scooters run on a 36v 360 wh lithium ion battery pack. The battery charges in 6 hours and comes with a lock as added e scooter safety.

The 350W electric motors carry a max rider weight load of 275 lbs, and retain good performance even with riders on the higher end of that limit. You can ride the X7 Max to a top speed of 18.6 mph, and the X7 Pro to just 15.8 mph.

Both electric scooters run on 10 inch x 2 inch pneumatics, but lacks suspension, therefore your best bet is to stick to city riding. The deck on the X7 Max is larger, which we’re glad to see, and now comes at 21 inches x 7 inches versus the X7 Pro’s which was just 18 inches x 6 inches. The clearance on the Max is also larger at 5 inches.

This long-range budget electric scooter also comes with disc plus regenerative braking, and a IPX4 rating, a good display for its price. For anyone with budget constraints, this is the electric scooter for you.
